I first heard about YourStory through a friend of mine who was playing football for YourStory FC. My friend asked me to go to a few training sessions with him and the manager was so impressed with me that he asked me to play for the team. From then on I played all season, scoring a few goals on the way and becoming one of their better players. After a while Darren, Adrian and Andy asked me if I was interested in doing some voluntary work, mainly football coaching, which they knew I was interested in.

I started to do voluntary work at various places - schools, youth clubs etc. After a while Darren put me on my Level 1 Football Course which I did at Fulham FC. I passed that and now I am a qualified coach. I also achieved my CSLA Sports Leader Award which gave me more confidence in working with young people. With these extra qualifications Darren asked me if I was interested in doing some paid work so for the past couple of years I have been doing a number of different projects with YourStory. I mainly run after school clubs and half-term clubs but I am also working with kids that have been expelled from school, teaching them sports. I really enjoy this work because I feel I am giving something back to my community.

In the future I wish to progress with my football and work, learning new skills and picking up more qualifications on the way so that I can be the best I can be. Once that I feel that I have obtained the necessary skills and qualifications, I would one day like to have my own coaching business teaching football in the community.
