Mark Lewis, Education Tutor
Mark was living in a second stage drug rehabilitation centre when he first met YourStory. He met us by chance one day while he was watching a game of football on Clapham Common. We were short of players so Mark nipped home and got his boots.
From there he started helping out with the football club and doing some coaching work until eventually he was running one of the teams which he still does today.
Early last year Mark started doing some voluntary work on the school program, working with kids who are having problems at school. He now works on this programme four days a week, which is hard work but very rewarding. Mark also works with prolific offenders on the mentoring programme.
Mark’s job is very challenging but the rewards of seeing people change more than makes up for that. Working for YourStory has given Mark a purpose and a new meaning to life. If he hadn’t got involved with YourStory, Mark would probably be involved in substance misuse again by now.
