Jim Atkinson BA, MSc, FRSA, MILAM

Jim took early retirement from Sport England in 2001 after 25 years as a Senior Development Manager specialising in Community Sport Development, Quality Assurance and in Education and Training. He helped set up the first Inner City 'Action Sport' programme for the Sports Council in London in 1981 after several years doing grass roots sports development and coaching with Inter Action Trust's 'Sports Space'.

A founder member of the Institute of Leisure and Amenity Management Sports Development Panel he oversaw the QUEST Quality Assurance system for Sports Development and helped develop NVQs in Sports Development and Coaching. Since 'retirement', in addition to his voluntary work, he has provided consultancy on sport and social inclusion for the Home Office, DfES, the ABAE and the FA. A committed volunteer, Jim is Hon. Sec. and a Trustee of Fitzroy Lodge Amateur Boxing Club in Lambeth, a Director of the Amateur Boxing Association of England and an ABA and British Weightlifters Association Coach.
