What is YourStory? — YourStory is a London-based, not-for-profit organisation that works with disadvantaged people from all social and ethnic backgrounds.

The Team — YourStory is staffed by a tight-knit team, comprising experienced sessional staff and volunteers.

PE Curriculum — YourStory has been delivering physical activities programmes as part of the PE Curriculum for three years in primary and secondary schools within Lambeth, Southwark and Wandsworth.

BeforeSchools — YourStory have teamed up with Fit4Kidz, a children's sports development company, to run this ground-breaking sports programme to help improve fitness and performance in the classroom.

AfterSchools — Working with the Colombo Centre SE1 and local parents, YourStory run AfterSchools Clubs for children between the ages of 5 and 13.

Sports Leaders Award — The aim of the Community Sports Leaders Award and Sports Leaders Award is to produce responsible, motivated and confident people who can lead safe, purposeful and enjoyable sporting and recreational activities.

YourSelf & Heritage — The YourSelf & Heritage programme works with young people of all cultures and backgrounds to help them examine and understand their heritage, culture and personal identity.

YourOutreach — YourStory was approached by the Colombo Centre two years ago to develop an outreach programme that would engage 14 to 25 year old males in the local community who needed to positively occupy their time.

Citizenship — Through the Citizenship programme young people are challenged and encouraged to understand the roles and responsibilities involved in becoming an adult and how they can play a positive role in their community and society at large.

YourResidential — YourResidential is a great way of developing a young person's confidence self-belief, independence and social skills, to prevent them getting into a life of crime and its associated peer pressures, whilst having fun in a safe and enjoyable environment.

YourSelf Empowerment — The objective of this programme is to help young people develop deeper appreciation of themselves as individuals and to demonstrate how self-appreciation can lead to greater autonomy and empowerment in life.

Prison! Me! No Way! Programme — This programme introduces young people to the realities of life as an offender. Structured personal development sessions based around the Prison Me No Way crime reduction model help young people to understand and acknowledge the impact of crime, social exclusion and the widespread, lasting effects on individuals and communities

YourSchools Re-engagement Programme — The YourSchools Re-engagement Programme in partnership with Southwark Guarantee works with 14-16 year olds who are not engaging with the schools system.

Make Good project — Students paricipating in the YourSchools programme have also been consulted with on the design and planning of a new project YourStory has been delivering in the 2006-07 school year.

Sports Leaders Award — The prime aim of the Sports Leaders Award in Sports Leadership is to produce responsible, motivated and confident people who can lead safe, purposeful and enjoyable sporting and recreational activities.

Fitzroy Lodge — Every individual has the opportunity to work with Fitzroy Lodge Boxing club on a fortnightly basis where they are taught the basics of boxing in a safe and positive manner. The young people learn the art of defence and the beauty of boxing as a skill and a form of self-defence and self-motivation.

YourMentor — YourMentor is a programme focussed on enhancing the self-perception of the people we work with. We use one-to-one sessions to address issues such as personal stability and social exclusion, support clients as they engage with community activities, and guide them in the development of achievable personal goals, which we continue to support until it is appropriate to put in place an exit strategy from the mentoring programme.

YourStory Prolific and Persistent Offenders Mentoring Scheme — We have been working with Southwark’s Prolific and Persistent Offenders Team (PPO) since April 2006. During this time we have worked with approximately 17 clients. These clients are amongst the top 25 most challenging, persistent offenders within Southwark.

Career Development Programme — The Career Development Programme (CDP) is a client led holistic programme, utlising core YourStory values of assisting individuals to develop skills and tools for life. Self-belief, self-analysis, motivation and the ability to build relationships are invaluable, transferable skills whatever life path is chosen.

Sexual Health and Relationships Education — YourStory, in partnership with Healthier Schools Partnership and Brook Advisory, provide young people, in groups aged 8-13 and 14-17, with the opportunity to explore and discuss, via small personal group interactions, personal and cultural issues surrounding relationships.

Sponsorship — As a registered charity, YourStory relies heavily on sponsorship and donations to meet the shortfall in funding. If you are interested in match funding to help meet this shortfall through sponsorship of one of our programmes we would love to hear from you.

Kick Racism Out Of Football — YourStory FC have been working in partnership with Kick it Out for over three years and during this time we have developed a strong working relationship with their team. They are a superb organisation that bring education to the community and the team that runs it has the personality that is needed to succeed.
