Students paricipating in the YourSchools programme have also been consulted with on the design and planning of a new project YourStory has been delivering in the 2006-07 school year.
This involved the young people producing drawings and designing models to develop the ADI centre we deliver in. Having agreed on a universal design, after a consultation session with all involved, they moved on to the next stage of the project, which involved them implementing the designs themselves. They re-designed and built a communal kitchen area, music studio and refurbished the theatre hall.
They were taught new skills by experienced trade’s people with a wealth of experience in both training and managing employees.
With a budget of over £30,000 this was an amazing and exciting project, and as a result of its successful completion, all the students received nationally recognised qualifications.
