AfterSchools
Working with the Colombo Centre SE1 and local parents, YourStory run AfterSchools Clubs for children between the ages of 5 and 13. Through this partnership, Colombo provide facilities in kind, including state of the art third generation Astro pitches and two new multi-use games areas, and YourStory provide the coaches.
The programme is very successful, averaging 50 children per session within the first 18 months. We currently run a walking bus from local schools to the Colombo site for which we charge £1 per child.
The sports that we currently deliver through this programme include football, uni hoc, basketball, netball and kwick cricket.
We plan to expand the Colombo AfterSchools Club to run on three days a week once we have sourced the necessary funding.
We also facilitate sports sessions at Telferscott Primary School including football and kwick cricket on a Monday evening and their AfterSchools Club on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. An average of 25 children per session from the school attend. We have recently incorporated badminton and netball into this programme.
