Citizenship
Through the Citizenship programme young people are challenged and encouraged to understand the roles and responsibilities involved in becoming an adult and how they can play a positive role in their community and society at large. The aim is to develop a greater appreciation amongst the young people of how they impact on others and what they have to contribute.
We work either in small, more personal groups, with a maximum of eight people, or larger classes with up to thirty people, exploring with the young people emotions, values and barriers to positive participation.
Identity and self-awareness are examined and how these play out within peer group dynamics. We share life coaching and neuro linguistic programming techniques to help the young people learn from the outcomes of their actions and develop constructive decision making techniques. Plus we also challenge the young people to deal with disappointment issues, which will be something they need to manage throughout life.
As a result of the programme the participants come away with a key principle in mind: Awareness + Responsibility = Empowerment.
YourStory is able to deliver GCSE Citizenship, which runs alongside our GCSE courses in English Language, Maths, Spanish and Physical Education.
