YourSelf Empowerment
The objective of this programme is to help young people develop deeper appreciation of themselves as individuals and to demonstrate how self-appreciation can lead to greater autonomy and empowerment in life.
We take the young people through a number of exercises including open questioning, constructive conversation as a path to positive decision making and learning from outcomes. These exercise raise self-awareness, relationship awareness and encourage personal responsibility.
We run small group sessions with a maximum of eight young people in each and provide a relaxed environment in which the young people feel comfortable to express their views and experiences. We consult with the young people as the programme progresses and give them the opportunity to determine the direction of individual workshops, short-term aims and the long-term path.
Part of the process involves the young people being given temporary charge of themselves so they experience empowerment. By handing over the reigns to the students they recognise they have the strength and confidence to act on their own initiative.
Each project is managed by one co-ordinator and delivered by two specialist trainers, experienced in working with disadvantaged and young, diverse client groups. It should be noted that to develop sustained self-empowerment, support and guidance are consistently needed. This workshop develops a ‘taste’ of what is possible.
