Kick Racism Out Of Football

main content

YourStory FC have been working in partnership with Kick it Out for over three years and during this time we have developed a strong working relationship with their team.

They are a superb organisation that bring education to the community and the team that runs it has the personality that is needed to succeed.

YourStory has such a diverse membership that we have had players of all nationalities, from Eritrean to Irish and from Jamician to Albanian, playing. We are more than just team mates and are more like family - we stick up for each other and we are passionate about the game. We enjoy a bit of banter yet we also respect each other and that's why we feel that Kick it Out both supports us and helps us move forward.

YourStory received its first funding bid in 2003 to work with young female asylum seekers, using football as the tool to educate them. We entered the Unity Cup in Manchester in 2004 and managed to win the tournament, however the most important part of that weekend was the friendships that we made both personally and as an organisation.

We then represented Kick it Out and England in Italy in 2005 as part of the Futsbol Mondial tournament and again great friendships were made. This was another great opportunity for the young players to experience different cultures in a new environment.

All the players feel proud to represent Kick it Out, whether its playing football in a tournament, giving interviews or sharing their experiences at conferences.
