YourStory FC
YourStory FC provides football coaching in the community via after school clubs and regular training for local young people. It is made up of a combination of experienced management and players who have played at a high level, and young players that have talent that needs to be nurtured.
The Football Club is full of characters and a great team spirit runs through the club. Many members feel part of an extended family and don't initially realise the opportunities that are available to them through our support network.
We provide personal development and mentoring for players so they can access training courses to become coaches and referees. We also offer volunteer positions to help with the development of the club and players.
The club currently works in partnership with BlueSky Football Agency who have international and premiership players under management. BlueSky look after our needs as a whole not just when our contract is up for renewal, and they manage many of the top players' investments for the future.
BlueSky believe in planning, preparation and honesty and that is why we use their services with our players. Their links with Premiership and Division One Clubs are second to none and we look forward to a continued successful relationship with them.
YourStory FC and community work
YourStory FC has developed its remit and expanded its community work within Lambeth by developing two new coaches, two referees and one development worker. Through this YourStory FC is delivering more workshops based around racial equality, race hate crime, individual stories and behavioural patterns. We have developed Asian coaches and young people within Lambeth who have moved onto YourStory AfterSchoolClub (Physical Activities).
YourStory FC's work primarily benefits individuals from the London boroughs of Lambeth, Wandsworth and Southwark. Activities undertaken by YourStory FC include an anti-racism tournament in Italy, the annual Unity Cup Festival for refugees and asylum seekers and Week Of Action (Anti-Racism, One Game One Community).
The above activities have been supported by Kick It Out, Lambeth Asylum Seekers Team, Lambeth Community and Police Consultative Group, Lambeth Education (Primary Schools) and the Safer Neighbourhood Team in Southwark.
YourStory today
YourStory FC is now entering its third season and has had a re-shuffle of the development plan side of the club. To continue running two teams without sponsorship, it was agreed was unachievable as it was costing too much time and money to sustain both teams. Once we gain sponsorship we will build another team so for now we are concentrating fully on just one team.
